Enterlude [Closed] « Thread Started on Oct 23, 2009, 11:05am »
We hope you enjoy you’re stay. It’s good to have you with us, even if it’s just for the day.
The sounds of Enterlude, second song of the Killers second album Sams Town, resounded in the young boys ears as the plane flew. Andy couldn’t help but think it was the perfect song for him to be listening to right now, as this was practically the start of his brand new life, journeying half way across the world alone to reach his fathers home in Japan, just to see him for the first time in four years. He had so many questions to ask, so many things that needed explaining; losing out on a father figure for four years isn’t particularly good for anyone, especially not someone as young as he was. He sighed, and turned the music up louder. He wasn’t sure exactly where he was, only that he was definitely no longer flying over England, as looking out of the planes window could easily confirm. He closed his eyes slowly, and thought over all that had occurred over the past two days.
-~-~-~-~-~Day One~-~-~-~-
It was earl Monday morning, not a particularly cold one, but shivers were still sent down the young Andys spine as he slowly stumbled down the stairs. It was 3AM according to the clock on Andys bedside table, and although he was happy to be woken up slightly earlier than usual (an hour earlier), he was still going to have the decency to find out who the person that was responsible for this action was. Grabbing the phone on the dining room table, he put it up against his ear and said “Hello”. What then followed was absolutely breath-taking. A voice came down from the other side of the phone, one that Andy had dreamed about hearing for years now, sounding almost exactly the same as it was all that time ago, except possibly a tad older, a tad wiser, even. The voice was requesting to speak to Sandraa, but Andy refused to put down the phone. He was in shock. The voice was sending shockwaves zooming down his spine, and after waiting four years to hear it, he certainly wasn’t going to let it go without a fight. Well, at least, if he wasn’t a seven year old boy, and his mother hadn’t come up behind him and taken the phone straight from his hand, as if she knew who it would be. She obviously didn’t, however, as the shock on her face that appeared soon afterwards gave away completely.
“Harold…I. Well…I don’t think…but…you honestly think I-what do you mean?” Silence followed for half a minute, before she finally said “Fine, but you’re paying.” Before slamming down the phone, and turning to face Andy, eyes filled with concern. “You’re going to stay with your father.” She stated, before her eyes widened even more as Andy fell backwards, landing smack down on the floor, fainted. From there, obviously, Andy couldn’t remember any more of day one. Day two, however, he could remember completely…

-~-~-~-~-~-~Day Two~-~-~-~-~-
Andy awoke in the soft, feathered bed he knew so much, staring up at the white ceiling of his bedroom. It was his favourite room in the house for certain, simply because it was his, and nobody could tell him what to do inside, nor where to put his stuff. Of course, he could be told to tidy his room, but he kept his room almost spotless anyway, so what did it really matter? He rubbed his eyes slowly, and lifted himself out of bed. He could barely remember anything that happened yesterday, or, at least, he didn’t think he did. All he could remember was the dream he had last night, and that’s all he could think about really, hearing his dads voice…but it was only a dream, and dreams should never be confused with reality, as if they were, surely the border between the two would become non-existent. Andy reached for the ipod sitting on his bedside table, and slowly began to roll through the artists section. He wanted to listen to his favourite band, but honestly, he wasn’t really in the mood to do so, so instead he went for an album by the Feeling, putting the ipod earphones in his ears and lying back down again, closing his eyes and hoping to return to the sleep like state he was in prior. No luck, however, as soon the door to his bedroom opened up, and Andys mother walked in, looking tired, slightly upset and mostly worried. She looked over at Andy, who hearing the noise, opened his eyes and looked back. He took his earphones out.
“So…do you want me to help you pack, or are you fine by yourself?” She asked, a small smile coming across her face. Andys eyes widened. It hadn’t been a dream, or a fantasy, or anything of the sort. It was true, he was really going to be staying at his fathers, all the way in Japan. How on earth would he get there was the main question on his mind, I mean, even a seven year old can see that it’s a long way away. He quickly nodded, and jumped out of bed, running over to the backpack that was always waiting for him, hanging on the back of the door. It was his favourite backpack, having a soft toy wolf on the back for him to hug as he went, being functional and comforting at the same time. He began to join his mother in packing various things he needed into his backpack, and then he grabbed the suitcase that contained all three of his musical instruments. At this point, his mother looked sceptical, to which Andy just said “I don’t want to fail my music tests when I get back!” She smiled, knowing that it wasn’t the real reason for him to be wanting to take his instruments, and continued finishing off the packing of what little possessions Andy owned.

And here he was now, having packed and made his way with his mother to the airport, and being sent on this flight, heading straight to Tokyo. It had already made two stops, so that most likely meant that it was close to the area. Andy closed the blinds of the window, and stared upwards at the planes ceiling. He really wished he’d have been allowed to bring his instruments on a plane, but since he couldn’t, he obviously was bored out of his mind. He didn’t have any paper to doodle on, or write on, and he didn’t have anything to read. All he had was his mind, some money, and an ipod. Why was life so damn boring sometimes? He took his earphones out as he heard a mild rattling, signifying the food cart was heading his way with lunch, and he was quite hungry indeed. Just as he heard it reach the seats behind him, a huge crash resounded to the left of him, and it felt as if the whole plane was launched sideways, flying through the air. Andy looked around with a shocked expression on his face. A woman nearby assured him it was probably just turbulence, but could that really be possible? Completely unannounced turbulence of that strength. Andy had to decide quickly. Should he stay in his seat and wait for it to all blow over, or get out and attempt to help out any who were injured. He was seven, so the decision was fairly easy, as he wasn’t going to be much help to anyone, and his death also wouldn’t help anyone at all.
One thing he could do, however, is open his blinds up again, and check what on earth is causing the turbulence. As he did so, a voice came from behind him and said “NOBODY OPEN YOUR BLINDS. IF THEY ARE OPEN, CLOSE THEM.” Andy looked up to see who was talking, and it was a young girl only thirteen at oldest. She was holding a silver personal assistant type thing in her hand, and it seemed to be projecting an actual hologram of something. What, Andy wasn’t quite certain. She quickly nodded to Andy, and then turned and ran off. Andy swore that he heard the sound of one of the planes doors opening. Again, a large crash struck against the side of the plane, and this time it was accompanied by a huge roar, which Andy could tell was coming from outside, but was still extremely loud. Andy decided that no matter what the girl had stated, he would check what was outside. If he was going to die, he may as well find out what would kill him. He lifted the blind up quickly, and was amazed. All he could see was scale. Lizard like skin against the window. Andys mouth dropped. It was a dragon, it had to be, what else could fly and have scales like this. Suddenly another jerk slammed the plane, and this time Andys young body couldn’t deal with it, the boy being knocked out cold.

Andy slowly opened his eyes. He knew he was still in the plane, because of the roaring of the engine in his ears. It was evident that the dragon like creature had left them alone, as the plane was still moving, and from what Andy could see as he looked around, nobody nearby had been seriously injured. He looked in the immediate area for the girl he saw before, but no luck, she had obviously gone to sit in another part of the plane. Or at least, Andy hoped so, he couldn’t help but feel she was involved somehow with the dragon. Andy sighed as he heard his stomach let out an angry groan, he had missed lunch because of the ‘turbulence’, and now he was uncertain whether they’d be serving lunch again for the rest of his journey. He looked down, and found a pleasant surprise in what was his lunch laid out for him on the table in front of him. Perhaps he wouldn’t have to go hungry after all. After finishing his lunch, he reached for his right pocket to take out his Ipod, ready to listen to music, but instead found two items feeling rather different to his ipod. He took one of them out, and was shocked at what he found when he did so.
The other object was just as peculiar, being exactly the same type of object as the girl from earlier was holding. Andy was shocked. Why on earth had his Ipod been removed from his pocket and replaced with these two useless gadgets; it just didn’t make any sense? The blue object did have quite a cool style to it, Andy would admit, but it still wasn’t his Ipod, and he had no idea how to operate it, nor what it did. He reached for his other pocket, wondering what else he may find there, but luckily, what he found was his Ipod, sitting there like it must have been before. Andy was just overanalysing things. But wait, that still didn’t explain what on earth these things were, or why he had them? He supposed he’d just play around with them for a while, and maybe find out what the things were for himself, less the girl from earlier show up and tell him.
